This is the fourth consecutive year of increased holiday travel since 2008 when Thanksgiving travel fell by 25%, AAA said.

The number of automobile travelers is expected to rise to 39.1 million, AAA said, while the overall number will be 43.6 million, up from 43.3 million.

Air travel is projected to decline to 3.14 million travelers, from 3.2 million last year.
