Roadrunner Transportation Systems reported a first-quarter profit of $4.4 million, or 14 cents a share, up from $940,000, or 5 cents, a year ago.
Roadrunner, which went public last May, said its revenue rose 20% to $171.2 million,
Less-than-truckload revenue per hundredweight rose 10.2% including fuel to $100.7 million. Truckload revenue rose 43% to $54.6 million.
Roadrunner is ranked No. 49 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
