Roadrunner Transportation Systems said Friday it has acquired two Nebraska-based truckload carriers for about $24 million.
Roadrunner bought RM Transportation and all of the outstanding stock of Sortino Transportation, primarily refrigerated carriers.
Last year, RM and Sortino together generated about $64.5 million in revenue, Roadrunner said.
The deal “expands our refrigerated capacity in key lanes and broadens our customer base, said Roadrunner CEO Mark DiBlasi.
“RM and Sortino’s Midwest presence enables us to more effectively cross-sell our truckload services, he said in a statement.
Roadrunner, which posted a strong second-quarter profit earlier this week, is ranked No. 32 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
