Echo Global Logistics' 2Q Income Rises

Echo Global Logistics said its second-quarter profit rose as revenue climbed.

The company also announced the acquisition of Shipper Direct Logistics Inc., a truckload transportation brokerage firm based in Nashville. Terms were not disclosed.

In the prior 12 months, Shipper Direct had approximately $18 million in gross revenue.

Echo’s second-quarter net income improved to $34 million, or 15 cents per share, from $2.9 million, or 13 cents, a year ago.

Net revenue climbed 18.8% to $34.8 million, the Chicago-based third-party logistics company said late Thursday.

Echo reported a 17.6% gain in shipment volume.

The company said it had 191 enterprise clients in the second quarter, up from 161 a year ago.
