Covenant Transportation's 2Q Profit Improves

Covenant Transportation Group’s second-quarter net income rose to $4.3 million, or 29 cents per share, from $1.7 million, or 11 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue slipped 0.9% to $171 million. Freight revenue increased 0.4% to $134 million.

Operating income rose to $11 million, from $7.2 million, the truckload carrier said late Wednesday.

Covenant Transportation Group is ranked No. 40 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
