Consumer confidence rose in April to the highest level in a year, according to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index released Friday.
The final index for the month rose to reading of 76.4, from 76.2 in March.
Economists had predicted the April reading would hold at 75.7, a preliminary reading issued two weeks ago, Bloomberg reported.
