TAMPA, Fla. — The Technology Maintenance Council gave one fleet executive and four associate members its Silver Spark Plug Award for career achievement at TMC’s annual meeting being held here this week.

Lee Long, director of maintenance for Southeastern Freight Lines, a South Carolina-based less-than-truckload carrier, won as a fleet member. He is scheduled to be installed as TMC’s new chairman on Thursday.

A part of American Trucking Associations, TMC also gave the award to two managers for tire maker Michelin North America, Norman Ball and Douglas Jones.

The group also save Silver Spark Plugs to James LeClaire of air-flow products manufacturer Horton Inc. and Gregory Shipman of Web-based training firm Vertical Alliance Group.

The award, TMC’s highest, recognizes work toward improving heavy-duty maintenance and the development of TMC.
